EasyPost Hawai‘i Bowl and Hawai‘i Bowl Foundation Join Forces with Partners to Support Maui Public Schools Affected by Wildfires

HONOLULU, HAWAI‘I – In response to the unprecedented wildfires that ravaged the island of Maui, the EasyPost Hawai‘i Bowl and the Hawai‘i Bowl Foundation, in partnership with the College Football Playoff (CFP) Foundation and the Mountain West, are rallying to support the affected Maui public schools through the Public Schools of Hawai‘i Foundation (PSHF).

Understanding the gravity of the disaster and the urgent need to act, the four organizations will donate $65,000 to aid Maui teachers and public schools. The group is also encouraging the community to join this vital effort by matching donations to the fund.

Join the Relief Effort

Individuals and organizations willing to contribute to this worthwhile cause can make their donations through the following ways:

All contributions received between now and October 15, 2023, will be designated exclusively for the recovery and rebuilding efforts of Maui public schools affected by this calamity. Donations are tax-deductible, and contributors can opt to use credit cards for their contributions.

A Commitment to Hawai‘i’s Future

Having steadfastly supported Hawai‘i’s public schools and teachers for years, the EasyPost Hawai‘i Bowl and the Hawai‘i Bowl Foundation recognize the immediate necessity to stand with the Maui community during this crisis.

They reached out to their long-standing partners, the CFP Foundation and the Mountain West, both of which readily agreed to support this cause. The College Football Playoff Foundation has pledged $25,000 and the Mountain West has committed $15,000 as matching funds to donations made to PSHF.

“Our hearts go out to all of those affected by the fires,” said Britton Banowsky, Executive Director of the College Football Playoff Foundation. “And we are happy to support the teachers and students in Lāhainā as they begin the arduous task of rebuilding their schools. We know it will be a difficult challenge, but we also know they are strong and  their resiliency will prevail. We will be here for them.”

"The Mountain West family was heartbroken by the fires in Maui and the devastation to Lāhainā Town and surrounding communities," said Mountain West Commissioner Gloria Nevarez. "We understand there is a long road ahead to recovery, and we hope these funds will provide immediate support and assistance to teachers and students in Lāhainā as they start anew."

Coming Together in a Time of Need

In these trying times, the hui emphasizes that this initiative is more than a donation; it is a heartfelt endeavor to foster hope and resilience in the Maui community. It is a respectful acknowledgment of the hardships faced by the students, teachers, and families in Maui, and a step toward ensuring a brighter future for the affected public schools.
