OVERALL NOTES
• Conference USA teams improved to 8-4 all-time in the EasyPost Hawai‘i Bowl.
• Mountain West teams dropped to 4-5 all-time in the EasyPost Hawai‘i Bowl.
• The seven combined field goals are the most in Hawai‘i Bowl history.
• The two teams combined for the fewest total yards in the history of the bowl game, finishing with 534 (SDSU – 364, MTSU – 170).
• This year’s EasyPost Hawai‘i Bowl is the first ever to be played at the Clarence T.C. Ching Complex.
MIDDLE TENNESSEE NOTES
• First FBS team since at least 2000 to have fewer than minus-50 rushing yards in a game and still win.
• The Blue Raiders’ 170 yards of total offense is their lowest total in a win since an Oct. 20, 2018 win over Charlotte, when they finished with just 144.
• It’s also the fewest yards of total offense by a team in Hawai‘i Bowl history.
• MVP Jordan Ferguson came away with an INT and a touchdown reception while adding five tackles, a TFL and a pass breakup.
• Ferguson is one of three FBS players with both an interception and a receiving touchdown in a game this year.
• Ferguson is also the first Middle Tennessee player since at least 2000 to record an INT while catching a touchdown in a game.
• Jaylin Lane matched a Blue Raider bowl record with 10 receptions while going for 111 yards and a TD.
• Zeke Rankin matched the Hawai‘i Bowl record with four made field goals, tying Fresno State’s Jimmy Camacho in the 2017 game.
• Rankin set a bowl record with a 49-yard field goal at the end of the first half, a mark that was broken later in the game by SDSU’s Jack Browning.
• Punter Kyle Ulbrich set a Hawai‘i Bowl record for yards per punt, averaging 54.7 yards per attempt to best Hawai‘i’s Mat McBriar’s old record of 53.8 that was set in the inaugural game in 2002.
• Ulbrich’s 69-yard punt is the second-longest in Hawai‘i Bowl history.
SAN DIEGO STATE NOTES
• Held Middle Tennessee to the fewest rushing yards in a bowl game since at least 2000, allowing minus-66 yards on the ground.
• Matched a season-high with seven sacks while setting a season-high with 12.0 TFLs.
• Six different Aztecs came up with at least half a sack, while nine different players had at least half a TFL.
• Kenan Christon caught two passes for a career-high 111 yards and a TD.
• Christon’s 73-yard TD reception in the first quarter is the fourth-longest passing play in Hawai‘i Bowl history.
• Keshawn Banks recorded two sacks and four TFLs while making seven tackles.
• Kicker Jack Browning set a Hawai‘i Bowl record with a 52-yard field goal to give the Aztecs the lead in the fourth quarter. He broke the record of 49 yards that was set earlier in the game by MTSU kicker Zeke Rankin.
